📢 Steam Summer Sale

Steam is the gateway to PC gaming and every year they hold a summer sale with tons of titles significantly discounted. This is like Prime Day for PC gamers.

I remember years ago picking up the HD version of arguably the greatest RTS game ever created Age of Empires II Deluxe edition during a steam summer sale.

Steam if you are not aware is owned by Valve Corporation. It is the marketplace for all PC games except for Epic Games & Riot titles (and probably a few other niche titles). So even blockbuster titles like Halo Infinite and Elden Ring are sold via Steam.

🤝 A16Z invests in Lumi Interactive

While the venture capital market is running dry for traditional SaaS & crypto startups, Lumi Interactive was able to close a deal with A16Z, Eric Seufert, and 1UP Ventures raising $6.75M.

The freshmen studio will be using the capital for development of their upcoming mobile title Kinder World.

Their website is fairly thin on details of the IP but its branded as: "a mobile game about houseplants, healing, and practicing kindness."

So ya houseplants.................... really curious what their go-to-market & user acquisition strategy looks like.

Congrats on the $6.75M I guess.

🛠 Beyond Creative

Ok this is an interesting topic I'm just now learning about.

Beyond Creative is a studio that is solely focused on making custom experiences inside Fortnite.

They've worked on 16+ projects with top brands like:

• Balenciaga

• Adidas

• Chipotle

• And Epic Games themselves

What exactly do they do?

Fortnite is most known for their signature battle royale mode, but you can also play custom modes. Fortnite Creative allows players to build & play their own visions of the fortnite universe.

Ok so this is basically Fornite's version of ROBLOX just less known. Which seems crazy to me.

How big is Fortnite Creative mode? In this interview with Fast Company, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney mentions roughly HALF of play time is now in Fortnite Creative content.

I'll be doing a lot more digging into Fortnite Creative, but that's all we have time for this week.
