Scenario.gg is a platform that uses AI image generation tools similar to DALL-E or Midjourney to create 2D game assets and last week they raised a $6M Seed round.

Art is one of the biggest costs & time bottlenecks when it comes to game development, so being able to create game assets from simple text prompts could save studios very real time and money.

This is a tool most likely fit for smaller indie studios that need a competitive time-to-market advantage. Larger studios with veteran GameDevs are mostly still anti-AI just like they were anti-Web3, except this time they're actually missing out on a massive opportunity.

I know you're dying to ask, and the answer is no A16Z Games Fund is not an investor in this Seed round. I can only assume because they blew all their money on Web3 gaming.

Last week Playtika made a tender offer north of $700M to acquire Rovio (makers of Angry Birds). This would be roughly a 60% premium then their current valuation.

Rovio has yet to comment on the bid, but given the recent downturn in the mobile gaming market (totally not due to Apple's ATT policy).

Who is Playtika? They make a bunch of casino & solitaire games. They're a pretty big deal in the mobile gaming space.

Riot Games got hacked and the hackers are threatening to release the LoL source code. Everyone reading this agrees malicious hacking like this is wrong and should not be condoned. But c'mon... we're all a little curious what we'd find if the source code was released. The hackers gained access through a social engineering exploit (i.e. sweet talked a real Riot Games employee into doing something wrong). The code stolen includes the studios proprietary anti-cheat software which could make it easier for cheaters to rank up to Masters if made public.

Right now the hackers are black mailing Riot Games demanding $10M. Bold move.

Reminds us of when GTA got leaked via hackers.

Last week we were 23 subscribers away from our January 2023 goal. This week we're only 2 away!

Other newsletters typically create an affiliate program with rewards for individuals that share with their friends. Like most games multiplayer is more fun than playing solo, so I thought we'd make this a team effort!

If together we get 23 2 subscribers by the end of January (only 5 days away!) I'll share a download link to all subscribers for free.

No special link needed. No affiliate program signup needed.
