🧍‍♂️ Fall Guys Goes Free

Fall Guys is the Mario party style game that took twitch by storm when it launched in August of 2020. The game features super cute characters with all sorts of fun skins that compete in multiple mini-games where each round more and more players are kicked out.

Now almost 2 years later Fall Guys is going free-to-play! When?

TODAY!!

You can watch a trailer for the free-to-play version of the game here.

Oh also an interesting bit of info, the developer of Fall Guys Mediatonic is owned by none other than Epic Games.

Grab a few friends and challenge them to this low stakes party elimination game.

🤝 A16Z invests in an MMO

A16Z is leading the $22M Series A in Clockwork Labs, the developers of an upcoming MMO called Bitcraft (trailer here).

MMO's (Massive Multiplayer Online) games are incredibly difficult to build. I've personally worked on a live service AAA MMO and have seen the incredible technical challenges required to bring a MMO to life.

Clockwork Labs claims their proprietary database technology gives them a competitive edge when it comes to MMOs and is a big reason A16Z was interested in backing the new studio.

Other investors in Clockwork Labs include Clash of Clans developer Supercell.

📈 Mobile $ through 2026

Mobile app analytics firm Sensor Tower released their latest Mobile Market Forecast report looking at 2022-2026. You can read the their blog post here.

The chart above highlights consumer spending on mobile games growing to $70B in 2026. Some outlets are reporting this same report claims mobile game spending growing to $117B in 2026 but I can't figure out where they got that number. Outlets including this one, and this one.

If you can figure out how I'm reading the data differently than the other outlets, please send me a DM :)

📷 Meme

More of just a funny tweet but since we talked about Fall Guys today I thought this was fitting. Halo Infinite has really struggled with player retention due to lack of new content or DLC. The fact that Fall Guys got a cool Halo skin before Halo Infinite makes me chuckle.

What'd you think of today's email?

Thanks for Reading :)
